Hi All,

Yes, I am back with the newsletter. If you had not noticed, I did not send a newsletter for the past 3 weeks. For the initial 2 weeks, I did not send it because I was travelling and was on a break. I did not send it for the week ending 10/24 because I was procrastinating. I never understand people who say that they feel rejuvenated after a long break. I usually take a long time to get back into the groove and be productive again. For example, I should have ideally sent this newsletter by Friday or early Saturday. But, as you know, duh, PROCRASTINATION is a b**ch.

Back to the newsletter. Based on the discussions I had with my friends during the break, I am making some changes. Each subsection in the News section will not contain more than the top 5 news for that week. And without much ado, here it begins.

Sports:

F1: Verstappen won the US GP with Hamilton finishing second. This is one of the most interesting championship battles in recent years, with Verstappen currently leading the standings, 12 points ahead of Hamilton. 5 races to go, let me know who you think will win this year?
Chess: 15 Indian players will be seen in action at FIDE chess.com Grand Swiss and Women’s Grand Swiss 2021. It is an 11 round Swiss league event which is being held from 25th Oct- 8th Nov.
Football: EPL matchday 9 was extremely disheartening for United Fans, as they were thrashed by Liverpool
Basketball/NBA: Roughly 5 games into this season and we know that Steph Curry is here to dominate this year. In case you have missed it, NBA announced its 75th-anniversary team. Check it here
Cricket: There is no way you could have missed it but still, Pakistan thrashed India in the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. India need to win against New Zealand on 10/31 to have winning chances in the tournament

Business:

One of the largest global car rental companies, Hertz, ordered 100K Tesla cars, in the largest EV-fleet purchase ever. Tesla stock broke through $1T in market cap on the back of the news
Zuckerberg renamed his baby Meta. The holding company will own all the products — FB, Insta, Whatsapp, Novi, Facebook Reality Labs, and will trade under the ticker $MVRS. Meta is separating out its “Reality Labs” unit, which is home to Oculus and other virtual reality products. The other unit is the Family of Apps (WhatsApp, Instagram, etc.)
Amidst the turmoil of stock split and revenue sharing, GOI’s railway ministry couldn’t handle the trolling and backtracked on its 50% commission demand from IRCTC. IRCTC, which had crashed almost 25% on Friday(10/29), was quick to recover some ground
Thanks to a parabolic rally over the past few weeks, the Shiba Inu coin has leapfrogged dogecoin to become the ninth-most valuable crypto in the world. It’s gained nearly 1,000% in the last month and soared more than 900,000,000% in the past year

Puneeth Rajkumar(Appu), son of the matinee idol Rajkumar, died in Bangalore after suffering a heart attack at the age of 46 on 29th October. He was buried at Sree Kanteerava Studios in Bangalore as part of a state funeral which was reportedly attended by more than a million fans
Aryan Khan had “an emotional” reunion with his parents Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan on Saturday morning(10/30) as he returned home from Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail more than three weeks after his arrest following a Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raid on a cruise ship party on October 2
About 25,000 officials from 120 different countries will arrive in rainy Glasgow, Scotland, this weekend for COP26, the UN’s three-decade-old annual climate summit. Government officials including President Biden, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and a whole bunch of climate activists will kick-off two weeks of negotiations in what’s being billed as the most pivotal climate talks

Seedhe Maut is an iconic rap duo from Delhi. Their debut album Bayaan earned widespread critical acclaim and earmarked them as one of the acts to watch out for in 2019. They released a mixtape न in September. Listen to the mixtape here.
